Executive Summary The cost of capital is calculated for Midland on a firm-wide and divisional level in this paper. On a divisional level, asset betas of 0.9325 and 1.0490 are calculated for EP and RM respectively based on comparable firms. The asset beta for PC is back-calculated based on a formula relating the divisional betas to the firm-wide beta, thus resulting in 0.4517. Divisional betas are re-levered at target D/E ratios as provided in the case and the resulting costs of equity (using a simple CAPM) are 11.25%, 12.32%, 7.89% while the resulting WACCs are 7.81%, 9.71%, 6.18% for EP, RM and PC respectively. On a firm-wide level, the resulting cost of equity is found to be 11.30% and the WACC is 8.50%. 1. Introduction Midland Energy Resources, Inc. Since the Juvenile Justice Court (JJC) was first established there has been a debate on when, and whether or not, Juveniles should be treated as adults when they commit heinous crimes. Prior to the establishment of the JJC, parents were responsible for the actions of their kids under the age of seven; juveniles were tried as adults. By establishing the JJC, teenagers were given privileges they previously had not held; such as being treated as delinquents rather than criminals when committing crimes that adults commit. Moreover, the Supreme Court has continued to give rights to juveniles by limiting the type of punishments that can be granted to juvenile delinquents. In the 2005 Roper vs. Simmons case, the Supreme Court ruled it unconstitutional for a juvenile delinquent to be given the death penalty. In the 2010 Graham v. Florida case, the Supreme Court ruled that it was unconstitutional to assign life without parole to a juvenile charged of a non-homicidal charge, and must be given an opportunity to prove themselves as mature and able of rehabilitation. Even further, the Supreme Court ruled that it was unconstitutional to sentences juveniles under the age of eighteen to life without parole in the 2012 Miller v. Alabama case. As this happens it shows a hypocritical society as they would have them protect their country but would find it shameful that he married Desdemona. Iago supposedly Othello’s close friend tells brabantio that â€Å"’you’ll have your daughter covered with a Barbary horse†. He then paints Othello as a crude and animalistic being and insinuates that he is sexually corrupting his daughter the innocent Desdemona.
